The Madison Fire Department began its existence in 1909 and will be celebrating its 100th year anniversary in 2009. The Fire Department operates out of a single station equipped with 6 apparatus consisting of 3 engines, 1 aerial platform, 1 brush truck, 1 support van and a Chief's vehicle. The Department has 21 volunteer members and 1 Junior Firefighter. The Department also has mutual aid agreements with all fire departments from surrounding areas.

Our firefighters proudly serve the citizens of Madison and in conjunction with the Mayodan Fire Department, serve the citizens of the Madison-Mayodan Fire District.

The department is very proud of its newest piece of equipment, a Sutphen platform, which will add significantly to our ability to provide life safety issues and fire suppression. Chief Mike Comer and other well-trained volunteers continue the task of acquiring additional equipment and training to reduce the ISO rating in our community.

Remember: Smoke Detectors save lives — check batteries at least twice a year!
